NordVPN is a reputable internet security company that was established back in 2012. Their wide range of products includes a highly efficient VPN app that enables users to access the internet safely and securely. The VPN app provides users an encrypted connection that helps protect their online activity from prying eyes, hackers, and other malicious entities. NordVPN has a proven track record of providing top-notch security solutions to millions of users across the globe, making them one of the most trusted names in the industry.
Project objective
As someone who uses NordVPN, I'm happy with their service. Their branding is appealing and their app design is easy to use. I wanted to suggest some minor improvements for their mobile app while building on the great work they've already done in design.
Dynamic Island Add-on
I have noticed an opportunity to utilize the dynamic island feature of the iPhone 14 Pro on the primary page of the NordVPN app.
Currently, the top section of the app displays a green card behind the map when connected to a VPN, with some details about the connection. However, this information is already present in the center of the page, leaving the space underutilized.
To provide users with better visibility of the map display, I redesigned the active state to appear on the left side of the dynamic island and added the duration of the current VPN connection on the right. This redesign helps to consolidate space while providing relevant information for the current VPN connection.
I created the dynamic island feature to be displayed on the page where users manage their VPN connection. When users move to another page within the app, the dynamic island automatically minimizes to its default state. This ensures that additional information is only shown when it's necessary.
Speed Test Feature
When it comes to internet connections, it's important to balance security with speed. Users want to feel secure online but without sacrificing the speed and efficiency of their connection. NordVPN is a great choice for those looking for a secure VPN service, but it's always good to have extra information about the quality of your internet connection.
That's why I suggest adding a speed test feature so that users can keep track of their connection and have the peace of mind that they're both secure and connected to a reliable network. With this addition, NordVPN users can rest easy knowing they have the best of both worlds.
